Lol, probably the best thing anyone has said in this thread so far... Get some proper speed-rating tires first, or they might jsut blow on ya.

6500rpm would only give you 146mph. 167mph would require 7400rpm...

Anyways, here's my numbers on a 86 Sport with stock rims/wheels.

At redline:
1- 30
2- 60
3- 90
4- ??
5- ??
im pretty sure wind and weight can affect your engines load. if someone has scientific proof that says otherwise please enlighten me.

if there is 30 more mph of wind coming at you and you have 100 more pounds than another car then your engine will naturally work harder to attain or hold the highest speed that a gear can offer. therefore reducing the highest possible speed.

Those numbers are for stock diameter tires. His tires are only ~1% bigger overall, so maybe add 2mph. Still well off the claim.

What he meant was wind and weight have nothing to do with the max speed in the lower gears, only top speed overall.

Weight actually has hardly any effect on top speed. The only effect weight has is on the rolliing resistance of the tires and maybe the wheels bearings, but at top speed this load is only a tiny fraction of the load required to overcome aerodynamic resistance. Wind will obviously affect top speed.

If there's no cars on the road, go for it. What a lot of people don't take into consideration (not you necessarily) is other drivers on the road. I know a lot of roads well enough to go 120mph on them but that doesn't mean I trust other drivers not to do things like pull into my lane. Also, other drivers aren't used to checking for and judging the speed of cars going that fast. It's very easy to misjudge the speed of a car coming behind you at 120mph when you're used to cars coming up on you at 60mph.

Just a thought...

Resistances (rolling, wind, fat people, etc.) do affect overall top speed and acceleration. However, they don't affect the speed at a set rpm in a certain gear.

Ex. My 7 (~2700lbs) redlines 3rd at 90mph. If it weighed 5000lbs it would still redline 3rd at 90mph. Granted it would take a hell of a long time to get there... but it would still be the same.

I think we're saying the same thing. However, your first post made it kind of unclear.
