A quick question!

I'm going to start off by stating that I am aware that there is a search function, but before you people shoot me dead,I'd just like to state that it's 4 am here in toronto and I really need to get to bed.I can't be bothered to sift through hundreds of pages to find my answers. Not when I have to get up at 8.So here goes:

1)How do Torsen Differentials function and what is the benefit of using this system over the stock Clutch based T2 diff on a street/track setting? What mods are necessary to make the Differential work on an 88 s4 10thae?

2)What can I expect to fetch for a used Fd Torsen Diff Still in it's original pumpkin? The condition of the diff's internals is completely unkown to me as I got it with my car as an extra. However I do know that a heat sink(?) on the top has a small chip. The peices are preserved and...

3)Can those peices be rewelded onto the diff in a clean manner?

I know these questions may sound a bit noob, but I'm so tired.Be nice people

NOT quick questions at all... and why should the excuse that you are tired mean anything????

but I will give you quick answers...(because I am tired).

1. By magic... Clutch type diffs lock the two axles together when there is a preset amount of slippage, while a torsen diff transfers the power to the wheel with the most traction.

and to the 2nd part of your first question, bolting it in.

2. anywhere between $25 and $500 depending on who is selling and buying it.

3. no

Then I can't be bothered to explain anything to you.

But like Icemark said, a torsen diff essentially works by magic.

Lol,I think we're on the wrong page here.It was late and I wanted to get to bed.It wasn't because I couldn't be bothered,It's because I didn't really have the time.So I posted a question. It's not something I do often at all.In fact,I very rarely post at all.Even though I browse the forums and read as much as I possibly can.

I don't really appreciate the sarcastic responses, but w/e.To each his own.

Thanks anyways.
