quick question

i was just looking at this picture and i noticed the 2 white marks on the lower center pully and was wondering what they are for because i painted my pully's and i painted over them.

i would suspect its for timing ...mine doesnt have the 2 big white splotches but it has 2 engraved grooves about the same width apart.

Isnt one supposed to be white and one yellow? I think they are the timing marks.
