quick question

quick question

im in the process of rewiring my fuel pump, but my car is not running due to the fact that im totally redoing my engine. but i was wondering how i would go about testing the volts ont he fuel pump without actually starting it up.

You can't do it properly without the engine running. The voltage with the engine off doesn't matter. The only reading that matter's is the voltage taken with the engine running and other electrical accessories on.

You also need to jumper the yellow fuel pump check connector in the engine bay before you'll get any reading.

hmmm. it will still start up though if i do it right whont it?im just worried i might have mixed up the blue/w red strip on it and when i get my new engine in it whont fire up because of that. couldnt i just test it to see if its getting power at all just to see if i did it right because im pretty worried

Yep, if you get 12V you're sweet. You need the alternator charging the system to measure the improvement though.

alrighty. that takes some reife off because i wouldlnt be fun figuring if that was the problem or the way i install my new engine. thanks
