Quick Frankenstein turbo questions.

In the process of rebuilding this turbo(S5) I noticed the threads on the shaft were badly damaged, so I'm not putting it back on there.

I'm planning to use parts from a jspec S4 turbo(turbine/shaft, and heatshield?) to replace the S5 units.

My questions are...

Will I have problems using the S4 turbine/shaft in the S5 turbine housing?

Should I use the S4 indented turbine heatshield, or retain the flat S5 heatshield?

I don't think the s4 heatshields fit the s5 housing, the manifold and clocking direction of the exhaust housing is diferent.

The s4 turbine will work with an s5 turbo, the chra are the same. I would inspect each one and decide which one is in best condition.

I'm not an expert on this, but from what I have seen/read, the only difference between s4/s5 turbos are the exhaust housings. So no, in theory that shouldn't be a problem. Idk about the heatshield. I would use the one that corresponds with the turbine housing you use.

I've never actually seen a S5 heatshield but maybe it could be modified to fit. I'd recommend just getting a turbo blanket. I got one for a T3 sized turbo and fit OK.

Well the heat shield I'm talking about is the turbine heat shield. Its under the turbine wheel.

But yeah, I was looking into fitting a turbo blanket. Good to know

I doubt the heat shields will swap over. Not to mention, there is two different s4 t2 heat shield setups (early s4 t2 and normal/late s4 t2). How bad are the threads? Will a die set repair it? Post a picture!

Well the later s4 single heat shield should fit, the only difference is the dimple I thought..

And the other one is no good. Turbine wheel is damaged too
