Quick exhaust question

I'm looking into cat-back exhausts for my 88 TII and noticed some are single tipped and some are dual tips. Would the single tip be more restrictive than a dual tip? Would it be dumb to put the single on over the dual?

The exhausts that I'm looking at are the RB Cat-back and the A'pexi N1. I noticed that the n1 also comes in dual tip, but if I were to go dual tip, I'd rather go with the RB.

the dual tips are going to be heavier. flow wise, it really matters on how much hp you are putting down.

The weight difference is a tiny fraction of the car's total weight (well under 1%) so it's really not an issue. Flow restriction and performance will be much more a function of pipe size than rear muffler configuration. The three factors that really matter are noise (single is generally louder), cost (dual will be more expensive) and looks (which is personal preference).

I've decided that, should I go single, it'll be with the n1. If I were to go dual, it'll be with the racing beat.

The only thing that is really holding me up is the fact that they seem to be night and day compared to each other in every aspect. I like the n1 because I think the rx7 looks good with a single pipe, however it's loud... from what I hear anyway. Is it ricer loud?

I like the racing beat because it isn't so loud, but at the same time, it sounds as if it's too soft. Actually from what I hear, I'll just be hearing my turbo. Which I think could be annoying after awhile.

It's a dilemma.

I use to have the N1 single on my turbo 2, i remeber it having a resonator. If the one youre getting has one; it had a very nice tone, nothing raspy. But pretty loud, if its too loud just add another resonator where the cat is.

I have a turbo back corksport now, its not installed, but i know its loud! So im gonna run some resonators to calm it down.

Oh man, another brand to the mix. I'll have to look at corksport too.

Would the exhaust come with a resonator, also wouldn't that be a restriction?

some company have resonators on them. No restriction, usually the "resonator" is just another muffler, most likely to be straight thru. Look into borla xl1 or magnaflow muffler, if you looking for addtional resonator/muffler.

I have an RB cat-back with a boze highflow cat, and like farberio said, its quiet when it needs to be but when you push it, idk, it sounds good (alot of motor tone) but its still quiet.

I'm still young, I'd like to find a dual system thats between the RB and N1/ CorkSport systems (on the loud scale)

for better flow straight pipe it... but between the two for your set up the n1 would be good. I know its pretty loud compared to any rb set ups.

you cannot go wrong with the RB.

I've had custom 2.5" piping into HKS Dragger catback, 3" corksport/motoria single, N1 duals, and RB 3" turbo back. I miss the sound of the rotary with the motoria, the HKS and N1s but in no way, shape or form does it beat the drivability of the RB. The noise loses it's novelty, especially if you Daily Drive/Commute in your 7 (longer than 10 minutes.)

I used to have an A'PEXi GT single, but am happier with my RB duals. I don't have as much hearing loss after long trips, the system looks closer to stock, and for me (on my NA with true duals), the system has more power.

Here's our exhaust comparison project: http://howto.globalvicinity.com/gv_w...i=66&co=1&vi=1
Anyone can add to the list, just follow the sound guidelines. We can link directly to youtube videos now too.
