Quick clutch replacement question
I loaned my 91 to my brother since he totalled his truck. Anyway, after only 3 weeks the clutch started slipping and now all gears will not get any grip. What is the likely problem? Do I need to put in a complete clutch set or can I get away with pulling the parts off my extra engine and tranny?
I would suggest that you get a new clutch and pressure plate. And you will probably have to have the flywheel resurfaced, seeing as how you/whoever has been driveing it while it slips.

Most likely you'll need a complete clutch kit...

Yeah, to make it so bad, I had just put in a new clutch disk only a month prior to loaning my car. I guess I will take the flywheel and pressure plate from my 90 GXL and buy another disk and hope for the best.
BE careful on cutting corners...
It may seem like a good idea to re-use the old parts, but as mentioned 13 year old parts may not be up to the task.
My motto is why do all that work just to have to do it all over again in a years time, or less if you loan it to your brother again!
Hey maybe if he is a good brother, he should be help cover some of the cost of the replacement parts
