Questions on Braking

Ok I go down to the auto parts store. Ceramic Brake Pads wooo hooo. Then they tell me they don't have them for the auto adjusting suspension. Is this true or am i right in thinking it's the same. I haven't pulled the wheels of yet. I have three of 7's, and I just don't have the time to do comparisons on the one without adjusting suspension. It's a 1990 GTU.

Your 1990 GTU should not have Auto Adjust Suspension....

Do you have the 4pot brakes? or the single piston brakes?

Auto adjusting suspension doesn't have anything to do with the type of pads... it depends on whether you have 4 piston or single piston calipers.

auto adjusting suspension is the little buttons in the middle right where you can electronically adjust the ride?? Smooth or Sport? According to my manual it's the four piston calipers. Up front. Single in the rear. I work two full times jobs again, and once "I start I just can't stop" It has to get finished.

True, but most (if not all) cars that came with factory AAS also came with the 4-piston brakes at the front, and some parts databases use this info to help people choose pads.

Do this...if you can peek past the wheel, see if the caliper says Mazda on it. If it does, you have the 4-piston caliper.

Yes it is, but if you have it you may have a GXL and not a GTU. Only GXL model came with it. Someone might have also just put the AAS switch in there and hoped it would work.

As pfsantos said, if you can see MAZDA on your front calipers order brakes for a 'hard suspension' and if you don't see MAZDA then order for a 'soft' suspension.
