Question questions bout my car.

I just got a 91 n/a and im having a a couple problems that i need help with.

When i start it i have a kinda blue smoke for a couple seconds coming out of it.

another problem is that it idles really low, and its an automatic so sometimes when im stoped at a red light or something it dies. will a manuel swap fix that? i hate auto trannys

I little blue smoke is normal for high milage engines, or engines that have been sitting a while. As for the idle... there is a screw atop the manifold on my S4 you can use that to adjust the idle. But Im not sure where it is on s5s.

It could either have internal problems (hopefully not), or be low on AFT. If you have not done the 60,000 mile tune up yet you probably should, it might help. Put a good grade synthetic in there and hope for the best.

Its a NA AND Auto they take forever to get to the next gear.
but if its slipping check the oil level in the tranny. You just got the car you should change the oil. If the level is good try some lucas. it worked wonders on a jetta i had.

Your lucky. 60,000 miles is not that much really, especially considering its age. Given that information you might be able to squeeze a couple more years on that trans if you had to,as long as it has been given proper maintenance, and never had a teenage driver. Every trans is different though...good luck
