Question Questions about SE.

Did the what equiptment was standard on the SE? Am I correct in asuming that it was the lightest model FC? Did it get the standard 4.10 gears or was it lower?

Well I have an '86 SE and as far as I know it isn't anything special, P/S, no A/C or power door locks or windows... etc. No rear wiper. As for the transmission as far as I know all 2nd gen transmissions are the same with the exception of the TII.

The tranny is the same, but I remember reading that the ring and pinion on the "four lug" models is a 3.90 or something.

It's ligher than GXL, yes. What options do you have? Less options = less weight.

The brakes on the 4-lug models aren't as powerful as on the 5-lug, but a conversion can always be done if you wish to look into that sort of thing.

Basically though, engine/tranny are the same, and yes, you'll be lighter than most other models with more options. The main difference I believe is the 4-lug wheels.

hey I didn't know that the 4 lug had 3.90 in the rear. Interesting, you learn something new every day. What do the other models have?

JacobFC is wrong.

Unless you had an auto tranny, the rear end was 4.1 on all SE models. Brakes were single piston on 4 lug hubs all around with solid disc in the rear.

Only the automatic cars and 88 and 91 verts had the 3.9 rear ends.

Oh, cool. So the SE does have 4.10s! I was worried that I would have to swap the rear end if I got one. I'm not so worried about the brakes. The four piston brakes are nice, but I found that the smaller brakes have a better pedal. The small brakes give up sooner, tho.

Thanks for the info everybody!
