questions about safc

Hey guys.
I'm looking to buy an safc. I currently have an N/A 1987 w/bonez superflo cat, a K&N filtercharger, and a freshly rebuilt engine with new apex seals/clutch... etc... Got my car running like it was meant to from the factory (I think).... now... as for an afc... are the apexi ones good? Anything i should stay away from? Are they difficult to wire in? (i'm pretty good with electronics, so that shouldnt be a problem)... what sort of power gains am i looking to get?? fuel economy differs??

Well, The Apexi is pretty much the standard.... so I dunno about the others.
It's useless unless you can tune it (Dyno, Wideband 02, etc)
You fuel economy can go UP... since ALL you will be doing on an N/A is leaning it out.
You will notice the most difference in the midrange- it'll feel like a diferent car when leaned out by almost 10% through there!

As for installation, it's straightforward, but a little tedious... the factory wiring harness doesn't leave much room to work in... but all it takes is time....
plus, if you buy it new, I beleive it comes with snap-on- blade tee connectors...

Of all the work I have done on my car- no ONE part has improved power as much as the S-AFC. I noticed a nice peak power incerase, and revs don't fall off untill 9000 now, but what was amazing was the midrange- a good 20 HP increase through there.. (maybe 10 hp at redline)
I'd HIGHLY recommend one- especially if your car is fully modded in all other ways... maybe not so much on a near stock car....since the more airways are opened up, the more it will tend to run richer, (untill injectors are maxed out- but good luck on an N/A!!!) hurting ultimate power...
