Questions about porting

Average cost to DIY port? I am not looking for a bridge or anything really fancy.

I am considering a pretty aggressive street port. I currently have SAFC-II which I can use for fuel tuning right now, but I am going to be upgrading to a standalone by summertime.

I am just wondering how much I am going to need to do an aggressive street port.

Thanks.

Well, if you have a drill or a dremel tool and some bits--a port could be basically free... It's nice to have a template if it's your first time porting (which are like $60 for the set at RB), but you don't really need them.

The biggest investment is time. You'll probably need to devote half-a-day if it's your first time. Good luck and don't be intimidated. Just be smart and take your time.

Doesn't it require that the engine be rebuilt? Or can I just pull the motor apart to do the porting and I don't need to worry about buying new seals and stuff?

I did plan on getting some templates though. And using my dremel. .

Thanks.

From: We're all fine here now, thank you. How are you?
It requires at least a softseal rebuild. But if you open it up you'll want to check all the parts and see if they need replacing.

Soft seal? Oil seals, and coolant seals?

I am trying to figure out how much I need to save up .

$471 right now.

I plan on staying N/A. I know turbo is the thing to do, but I think I am going to keep my FC N/A. And when I get an FD, make that nice and turbo fast .

Anywho. Currently planning:

S5 UIM <--- got an S4 right now
Aggressive street port
Headers from RB
NOS <--- Small 75 shot. Just for when I need a little extra.
4.3 rear
standalone

I don't care about top speed. I just want a nice 0-100 speed.

Thanks for the info guys. My project has a couple of years before completed .
