questions about going carb turbo

I have 13Bt that needs rebuilt. I was thinking of doing some porting and putting on a 4 barrel carb, with this turbo I have.

I have T3/T4 Hybrid turbo, that I wanted to use.

My questions are is the turbo too small, what about ignition, can I use a 12a setup?

What kind of problems am I going to run into?

I was looking for a honest 200 hp for my dune buggy project.

any input would be great.

Why not just use the stock fuel injection setup?

Because I sold it and everything else with my Jspec T2 I built. The only parts I have left, is the engine itself, which turned out not blown, but had a stuck apex seal in the rear rotor.

I wanted something cheap and easy, that can be out in the rain, and survive somewhat.

A T3/T4 hybrid is good for a Honda, but is pretty tiny for a rotary. Most T3's are actually smaller on the exhaust side than the stock TII turbo.

It's a royal pain to set up a carb for a turbo, and you will need a special carb setup to do the job right. Carbs and turbos don't get along that well.

A turbo and a bare engine is a LONG way from a completed project, and you're not going to get out of this cheap OR easy. Either spend the money into the project and do it right or sell the parts and put the money into a different project.

Why is this so hard to do?

I have seen a car at the drag strip running a 4 barrel, with the same turbo I have and he runs a 6 sec 1/8 mile.

The only odd part I saw was the adapter underneath the carb, and the turbo had a U shaped pipe that went right from the turbo directly underneath the carb.

I would ask him for details, but I don't understand Spanish.

I don't think anyone is saying you "can't" do it. I think what they are trying to say is that you probably do not want to go through all the trouble. It sounds easy; but it's not. Going from negative to positive manifold pressure does strange things on a carb set-up, and even after lots of research I still can't seem to comprehend how it works. If you're building a drag only car then a carb might yield more power by increasing air-flow )no AFM) but you will be in a tuning nighmare that even haltech guys would stay away from. You could probably get a intake manifold from a junkyard and some good used injectors alot cheaper than you could find a carb and make it work. And with the FI you might even be able to drive it on the street at part throtle. Now if you have lots of cash then forget what I said and build something crazy.

Samps got it right - with a carb turbo setup, you can either have drivability or power - it's just the way carbs work, they don't like postitive pressure.

I've yet to see a documented source on how to do this with respect to rotaries - most of the guys doing it are the Puerto Rico drag crowd who have their own knowledge base on all this stuff.

If you have a buddy who's done it or something, it might be doable, but you definitely can't just get a generic Holley from Pep Boys and bolt it all together.

Rotaries and carbs are weird to begin with - adding a turbo throws a whole 'nuther weird into the equation.

1) He's about 1000 lbs. lighter than you are.
2) He's spent over $100,000 more on his car.
3) He's running methanol.
