Questions about electronic boost controller

I just bought an e-01 and hooked everything up ... im a bit confused regarding the stock boost sensor. Why does it still need to be hooked up? I thought the e-01 job was to control the boost now?

Or should it not be and it can be disconnected? Am I missing something?

I'm dialed in at 12psi and im still only hitting 5-6 psi ?

I would personally think you would take the hose off the boost sensor .. plug the sensor and hook the hose up to the out of the valve on the e-01 ? (i read the instructions and hooked it up properly; i didnt do it the way i just said... but still that would make more sense ... ?)

i believe the stock "boost sensor" is really the map sensor?

the stock "boost sensor" is a MAP sensor.. it measures the intake manifold pressure and adjust fuel/timing accordingly, if you remove it your ECU will not know how much pressure/vacuum is in the manifold and therefore not know how to adjust the fuel/timing

are you sure you have it "diald in" to 12 psi and not a duty cycle of 12%. The number 12 that shows up on the LCD screen is the duty cycle, not the amount of boost pressure. you will slowly turn your duty cycle up until you have reached the desired boost pressure... mine was around 19-20 for 14psi, but every car will bea different

re-read your instruction manual

On the Profec you are supposed to pull the pressure line off of the FPR. I don't know what the specifics are on the E-01, but it's basically a fancier Profec.
The boost sensor is for the ECU, so that needs to be in the car and working.
Are you sure you hooked up the solenoid correctly?

Absolutely wrong! You should NEVER pull the vac line off a Turbo's FPR, because it will run lean under boost.

What the instructiuons say is to tee into the FPR vac line, and you don't actually need to use that specific one. They just say that one because the FPR is the vac souce most likely to be recognised by your average half-wit installer...

How do you know you have it set at 12psi if you are only reaching 5-6psi??? makes no sense how you know... becuase there is no way to know until you have reached 12psi

um .. i have a seperate boost gauge ... and the e-01 has a digital gauge on it that displays the boost that you are currently spiking at ....

connected per greddy instructions except i tapped into the hose for the bov for pressure for the pressue sensor ... valve is hooked up to turbo and actuator

racingbeat turboback, streetport, and thats about it for performance

Because that's how closed-loop EBC's work. You dial up what boost pressure you want and the controller tries to make it happen. Whether you get it is another matter...

I understand how it works.. my point is, you can crank the duty cycle up to 40 in hopes that it should reach 25psi of boost, but how do you really know that 40 is equal to 25psi if you have never reach that level?
