Questions

Hey everyone, I have a life changing, importent question. I don't have an RX-7 yet, and I was going to rebuild and mod my current car. But I was thinking about just saving the my money up and just getting a FC, but first I wanna do some re-search. So, if the rotary engine hard to understand and work on? I have also heard RX-7's take a lot of work and have lots of problems, is that true? Then the final question, I have also heard if I wanna use it as a summer car only it is tuff because the Rotary engines will freeze up if you let it sit to long. I think those are the only questions I have for now. So if you guys could help out and give me some info, I would be very greatful. -Jared

I love how people that don't understand or know rotaries tend to believe all the misconceptions out there about them.

The engine is so simple it's retarded, seriously. It is 1000x simpler than a piston, at least to me. Once you understand it, it's cake.

RX-7's don't have any more issues or problems than any 14-19 year old car, old cars break down, stuff goes wrong, it happens. But with proper care and maintenance they are perfectly fine!

What's this about a rotary engine freezing up if you let it sit too long? Are you talking about not driving it for the winter for example? And just parking it during that time? There have been cases of cars getting carbon locked, but those are very high mileage and weak engines that this happens to. If you engine is healthy you'll have no problems at all...

If you want to get into building motors save your money and find an RX that needs to be rebuilt. target a car for 300-500. Hopefully you find one that is clean, body and interior. Then take the plunge and build a motor for that car. You'll be glad you did.

One of the main things to look for for a clean car the needs a motor is a lot of white smoke on start-up. This is common for a car that needs a motor and if a dealer gets stuck wiht one of these, they are willing to give the car away becuase.........there is NO WAY they are going to be able to sell it to a normal customer. They'll want to dump it really fast. Used car dealers hate these things becuase you can get them warm and they sound and drive fine and even pass smog. But let them sit over night=.007 smoke screen.
