Question for you guys running 17" rims

Anyone running a 225/45/17 with the factory 40mm offset? If so is your car lowered at all and is there any rubbing?

Looking at going to 225/45's but want to make sure they will fit. 215 looks too small. My 91T has RB springs and adjustable shocks.
My new rims are waiting for rubber.

what size of rim?

7,5x17 ET35 might and might not rub 225/45/17 front, depends on tire (if not rubbing, its very close)
with ET40, i am pretty sure it will not work

ideal setup for 7,5x17 seems to be ET30 (225/45/17) no problem then, might go even wider probably

I am running 225/45-17 on my vert for street driving on 17x7 w/40ET offset with no clearance issues.

In fact at one point I had some 215/45-17 on a 17x7 w/ a 48ET offset and they still cleared.

Stock vert height though. Don't know how much clearance there is if the car is lowered any futher than what verts are already from the factory.

Thanks Icemark. If I remember right it is a 17x7 but for sure it is a 40 offset.
My TII don't sit that low but does have a set of rb springs so who knows if it rally even lowered the car.

If you run larger than stock wheel sizes does it throw off your speedometer readings?

Yes and no.

The tire calculator (http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html) will get you a rough idea, but with my vert the gearing is off from factory anyway, so the slightly larger tire my speedo is actually more accurate than with a smaller tire (but is is still off by about 10% at 110 MPH- one of these days I need to change the speedo gear in the tranny).

I'm running Mustang Cobra R's 17X9.00 with 245X45X17 and if I hit a large dip I have inner fender rub. I have an 87 with stock suspension.

Are TII and NA wheel wells the same? My friend thinks 17s might be too big for my front fenders.

Then again theres probably no good reason for having 17s on my GXL aside from simply filling out the wells...

Im using 235/40/17 RA1s on a 17x8 wheel with a 3mm spacer in front. Clearance is fine. I just rolled in the lip of the front fenders and have no issues now. I'd like to go 17x9 front with spacers and a 255 in the future.

Yes, they are identical. My car was originally a 1986 Luxury Coupe.

Are your rims 7" wide with a 40 off set? That rear look great with the 245.
I think the 245 in the rear of my TII would be great so when I finally decide to hook up my T04.
Also what brand of tires are those.
Thanks

And are you running a 40mm off set? And is the rim 7" or 7.5" wide?
BTW - You have alot of rotary help in Tampa...... I sure do miss being home (Brandon). The rotary scene up here is getting better but I don't think it will ever be like FL.
