question regarding upgrading pulleys...

i was checking out racing beats website for pulleys and saw the aluminum alternator pulleys and main drive pulleys. what i dont seem to understand the difference is that theres a single and double sheeve on both these pulleys. can someone explain the difference between the 2 besides looks? also why that they dont recommend installing any of their main pulleys when its gonna be used in daily driving and some WOT action.

LOL.

A lot of members want to hear it from those that have had personal experience with a particular Companies products or services. They feel it would be unbiased versus calling those who are supplying the product or service. At least that is my theory as to why they don't call and get the information straight from the Horses mouth.

From Mazda trix website which uses Racing beat products.

Note: If you have removed the air pump, the remaining belt does not wrap very far around the water pump pulley. This lack of belt contact area area can lead to slippage of the water pump at high rpm's/high load conditions. The "high load" can be caused by the fan itself, or by the fan clutch being too stiff and/or frozen. We strongly recommend using at least the dual belt alternator pulley to double the water pump pulley belt contact area.

These are "underdrive" pulleys - meaning the water pump and alternator will turn slower. This reduces horsepower loss from the drag of those units, and reduces the chance of water pump cavitation at higher rpm's.

The water pump turning slower can diminish the overall efficiency of street driving. Meaning that it may be turning the water pump too slow at idle and slow speed driving to be sufficient to cool the engine properly.
