Question regarding Oil Pressure and possible OMP failure-Please help

Hello all,

My question relates to an oil pressure sitation that I've noticed on my 88 Vert. Sometimes when the car is started, the oil pressure guage will not move, but after a while (10 minutes or more) it will creep up. At normal driving speeds it is above 30, under 60 (closer to 60).

At other times the guage will read pressure at startup (around 60)...

I'm curious if there could be some kind of partial failure of the OMP or if the sending unit may be clogged or not functioning properly. Any suggestions? Help appreciated.

the OMP has nothing to do with your oil pressure. The OMP is responsable for delivering the proper amount of oil into the combustion chamber to lubercate the apex seals.
The pressure guage tells you the actual pressure that oil is circulating through the engine itself. It sounds like the oil pressure sensor is faulty. Replace it and see what happens.

good luck,
Mike

Thanks Mike,

Yes I thought about that and it doesn't make sense that it would be related. My fault. :-)
