Question and painting a 88 TII

My car needs a paint job and I was wondering is it possible to paint over the black strip that goes around the length of the car? I was just wondering cause I think that a solid color looks better on the car versus the two toned look it gives with it being black. Any info will be helpful.

Thanks
Marty

Yes you can paint it. It's all in the prep work. Don't bother arguing, the strips accept paint fine.

That or if you want to go all out, you can remove the strips entirely and fill in the grooves that they reside in and paint that. Probably looks better.
