Question- Loose feeling when going up small curbs/driveways...

Whenever I'm turning into a drivway, and go over the small curb lip, as soon as I hit the bump, each wheel always give kindof a knockclunk that you feel in the steering wheel very much....Same thing if I'm going over a speed bump with my wheels turned.
It feels like there is a lot of play in the steering rack or something.

f I'm going down the road, and I jerk the wheel back and forth, I can't get it to make the same clunk, only when going over bumps with the wheels turned.
It feels like, if I jack up the front end, and try to jiggle the wheels, they will move with a few degrees of looseness- but they don't!!
If I jack up the front end, I can't move the wheels, from top to bottom, and I can't feel any play if I turn them in and out with my hands.
It feels like the wheel bearings are loose- but I just replaced them both (big pain!!)
Something is definatly loose though.... it feels like tie rod ends or something, or ball joints, but I haven't heard of any problems with any other people's cars.

Any ideas?

Do you normally drive over bumps all the time???&nbsp Does the car respond normally during regualar driving other than bumps?&nbsp Then I wouldn't worry...

If you want to fix any "noise", it's probably the front upper strut mounts...

It's just marginally annoying... especially when I have to drive my grilfriend's rock solid 2001 Civic around all the time, then get into my car that feels like I have a loose front wheels!!

You're comparing your 10+ year old car to something that is only a couple years old at the most?&nbsp Oh boy...

If it can be fixed.. I fix!

I am not going to buy new car right now.. and I LOVE my FC...
If replacing some parts is going to tighten up the front end, dammit, I'm going to do it!

I am just pretty **** about things.. I want the car to be PERFECT. Why settle?

It's just that I know I will have this car for a LONG time.. It has a lot of new parts... including a new paint job, and, umm, a new engine!!
The engine should be good for another 100k anyways... so I might as well bring everything else up to par too!

Oh well... maybe I'm just a glutton for punishment instead!

You should see the list of things I've done, and things I need to do!
My sig(which is already to big... it doesn't need to be) is only a small fraction of the crap I have done to the car....

I want it to feel like a new car when I'm done- and I think it's doable!

KLUNK!!

I had the same problem, and it turns out that my drivers side control arm bracket only had one bolt holding it on the backside of the control arm. take a look and see if that's the same problem you're having.

Naw, that's all OK.. It feels like there's play between the steering rack and the pinion gear... but it doesn't feel loose when driving straight.
Do steering racks ever need to be replaced??
