question for a friend...

hey guys..

my friend started up his fuel injected 1st gen rx7 today, and it was puffin out BLACK smoke.. it was black enough, and dense enough not to be able to drive infront of people without smokin them out.. what would cause this, and what would be the fix? - rebuild???

black smoke represents unburnt fuel. sounds like he is having injector issues or a sensor is telling the ECU to run pig rich.

cool, so it is fixable wthout rebuild..

whats the best way to diagnose why its running rich and repair?

Check injectors, maybe it could be stuck open, check injector connections, check sensor inputs.. afm, pressure sensor.. etc.
