Question aboyt T-Stat
Anyone have a write-up on how to install a Thermostat on the FC? I looked around but I couldnt really find one. I mean I have n idea as to how it is installed but i font wanna F- Anything up.
Two things:
there is a spring loaded disc the sticks out below the valve.
It's job is to cover a bypass port down in the pump housing.
Check that is does.
There is a small air bleed hole in the valve that should go toward the top.

Dude.... You should change the coolant while you are at it anyway Sooo..
You'll need two gallons of coolant, the thermo and the water neck gaskett.
take the belly pan off.
put a catch pan under the radiator and then use a phillips screwdriver with a big head and take the drain plug out of the bottom of the radiator. Opening the cap will help it come out.
once thats done.. take the top radiator hose off the water neck.
Take the two bolts that hold the water neck to the waterpump housing out.
pull the water neck off the housing (the gasket may be a bit hard to get out.
you will see the 'stat sitting in the opening in the water pump housing.. pull it and pitch it.
now, clean the bottom of the water meck off with a razor scraper to get all the gasket material and rtv odff of it. then do the same to the water pump housing. (you may want to stuff a rag into the hole to keep junk from getting into the housing)
Now, get your new gaskett and coat it LIGHTLY on bothe sides with RTV, just a skim is all you need.
put your new Thermo in the water pump housing, springy side down, then lay the gasket on the mating surface, put the water neck back on and thighten the bolts, wait about half an hour and fill the car with coolant and go.
thats it.

You will only need 2 gallons of coolant if it is premixed. Uselees expense if you ask me. You will need only one gallon of coolant plus a gallon of distilled water if you are aiming at a 50/50 mix.
