Question about stock ignition sys.

When I put my timing light on each spark plug wire, the light flickers very smoothly and quickly for the trailing coil wires but at what appears to be half that speed and not as consistently on the leading coil wires.

Either the stock ignition uses multiple fire spark patterns on the trailing plugs or my leading coil has a problem. I'm about to go out and disassemble it, test resistances, check for corrosion on connections, ground ohmage, etc.

To anyone who has fired your timing light off of each spark plug wire when your FC engine was idling, did the blink speeds look the same for the leading and trailing wires?

I'm about to time my car so I'm interested as well as I don't know a thing about timing a car.

the trailing sparks twice every turn... so what you see sounds normal.

Actually it's the leading plugs that fire twice per rev. The trailing plugs fire just once.

I've heard this discussed before. For some reason that I can't remember, some timing lights have trouble picking up the leading plugs. Icemark will know.
