Question about my VIN #
Was looking through the FAQs and noticed something wierd. The VIN for my 1987 Turbo II is JM1FC3325H0148818. But according to the serial number, the last 6 digits, it was made between 8/85 and 6/86. Meaning it should be a 1986 model. Obviously it can't be because they didn't make any turbo models in 1986. I'm not too concerned because the VIN is clean, but I can't figure it out. Does anyone have any idea what the deal is with this?
The year the car is made has nothing to do with what model year the car is. The 10th digit refers to what model year the car is.
As I recall the US spec 87 Turbo started production in Jan 86 as a 87 model. Just because they made them in 86, doesn't mean that it is an 86 model.
G= 1986
H= 1987
J= 1988
If the 10th digit is an H as you said, then it is a 87 model year car.
