ok another question i hope someone can answer...

my 89 gtu is blue. the driver's door is red. (i did that! yay!)
my key is for the BLUE car... therefore i have to unlock the passenger side and lean over and unlock the driver door, and walk around and get in.

i have the old handle from the blue driver's door, but the lock is fubar'd i cant even get the key all the way in.

what are my options to fix this? do i re-key the whole car (trunk, storage boxes) or do i get a handle key'd to my key? ive never had to do this stuff before and i want to get the locks in order before i go out for paint...

please help!

 

you can take out the door handle that is in there now, and have a locksmith reset the lock to accept whatever key you have ... i had to do the same thing, as when i bought my TII, the lock solenoid was missing ..

cost me about 20 or 40 bucks i think

took him about 7 minutes
