The engine mounts are different.
The J-spec has less emissions (no EGR valve) and less bypass solenoids on it.
The intercooler has "Rotary Engine with Turbo" (or something like that) written on it - this is a dead giveaway.

I dunno if you can glance at the engine VIN to see if it's a J-spec or not...

It's the typical power split between the two different models - 182hp versus 200hp.

You can confirm it's a Series V motor by looking for the electric oil metering pump and the "crooked" wastegate actuator on the turbocharger.
