Question about hatch shocks

So i think my hatchshocks are starting to go out. I found some cheap ones on craigslist and its off a s4 turbo. My car is a S5 NA does it matter if the shocks came off a car that had a wiper. Does this matter when i changed them out

To my knowledge the struts themselves are identical and I know that they will bolt up and work (at least at holding up the hatch.) The difference is that there is a wire that is attached to the outside of the strut and held onby a black plastic sleeve. On the wipre equipped cars it is on teh dirvers side, and on the ones with a light it is on the pass side with the light clipped on. So if your car doesn't have a wiper and the strut does, you are fine and just take off the iwre. If it diesn't have a wiper and yours does you can put the wire on the new strut and wrap it with electrical tape or something.

So the light is clipped on to the strut?

Well, I think its screwed on. The cover comes apart (careful, cause it can crack when prying it open) and there are screws inside if I remember right. I've still gont mine sitting apart in my trunk, so I'll take a look at it tomorrow.
