Question about fiero fan mod
Question about fiero fan mod
I know this issue has been addressed over and over, and is equivalent to beating a dead horse... but I have not been able to find any pics of the actual installation of the Fiero fan upgrade. I know a couple of guys on this forum have done this... I still don't understand the temperature switch dealy... as well, if you have any tips/tricks... any pictures that show in detail how to do it... furthermore, do i need to remove the rad to do this mod? Please say no.
Have a good one guys
I appologize for bringing this up... again...

The Fiero fan installation is very easy...and it does move a ton of air! When I was looking for my fan, I searched the wrecking yards for the latest model Fiero I could find, but it seems like they all use the same fan.
Installation was very straight forward. Before you go tearing up your car, you should have a wiring kit. You can make yourself the wiring kit or go to a local AutoZone, PepBoys, Kragen, World Wide, or wherever and get the Hayden Electrical Fan Kit. Makes installation very easy and you get adjustable thermo control. Once you have the kit, all you need is a splicer and some spades. I went to home depot and bought some flat brackets and made my own mounts. (PM me to remind me to upload pics if interested)
1) remove the stock fan clutch--4 10mm bolts
2) remove the fan shroud--more 10mm bolts
3) mount Fiero fan with your custom mounts
4) hook up positive, acc, negative, and thermostat (instructions are provided with kit)
Don't need to touch the radiator!
Word of caution:
Seems like my adjustable switch was fawked up. Warm up the car after installation and MAKE SURE the fan starts to spin.
