Question about this FC

Recently wrecked my SR 240SX and thinking about picking up a FC. I dunno too much about rotaries ans was checking out autotrader.com and found one that interests me but I'd like some opinions before I consider buying it.

http://www.autotrader.com/findacar/v...&car_year=1988

Thanks in advance.

Looks sweet, you could run the VIN to make sure its a true 10AE.

Pretty steep price for an '88,even an AE. You need to see all the modifications done to the car, and get someone's opinion who is knowledgeable on rotaries.
As stated above, a compression test is necessary.
Don't know about emissions where you live, but that's another thing to keep in mind if the exhaust has been modified.
Good luck, and if you need any info the guys on this forum are great.....A lot of knowledge.

I spent $5500 on my AE but I bought it from a friend & it had 90k on it. It was in good condition, but around 100k you can expect to be replacing some things no matter how well it has been taken care of.

The price seems a little steep but if it's really immaculate & the compression is good it might be worth it, AE's are hard to find in really nice shape.

I'll tell you this, it will a be a lot more power & grip than you're used to with a 240SX, even bone stock

the stock HP on a AE is 182. find out what modifications were made to see if it was done properly. not just full intake/exhaust and FCD, but a fuel computer and fuel pump too.

$8k for any FC is nuts. Not worth more that $5500 really. But it is a super nice lookin AE tho.

I really cant see giving more than $5000 for any FC really, unless it be a 91 turbo or something. Juxt my opinion. AN AE is a nice car, but its just a repainted turbo II with nice interior. Ill sell you my turbo II alot cheaper

well check what mods he has done...he says it has 250hp...so maybe he has a haltec or some **** maybe.......i would buy it for $7000 its quite a bit but if the mods are all done right and the compression and everything is perfect it would be worth it...

Thanks for the info guys. Well turns out he sold already. So I decided to go with another choice I had, it's a '90 FC GTU, 150K miles on chassis, 30 on rebuilt engine, for 2.5 grand. Clean inside and out, no rust, no scratches etc.

Sorry no pics of my 240, don't have a scanner or digital camera. No mods, kept the SR stock. Only mod I had on the actual car besides the SR swap was a LSD, and a Razo shift ****.

sr drift, do you know any links for where i can get a good sr20det. im planning on doing the swap soon, too. i want to do the swap myself to save money, is it really hard? do you have any tips?
what kind of 240 do you have, the one with pop-ups, or the newer one? i have pop-ups/hatchback... do you have any pics before the crash? is the engine ok? maybe you can sell me yours if it still runs...
let me know, cause i want to get started before college starts if i can...
thanks for any help!!!

re

Well I dunno about links I bought mine on eBay for 1,000. It included everything you needed; tranny, ECU, etc. I had a 91 hatcback also. I dunno too much about installing it since a mechanic friend of mine did it, but it's really an easy swap. The only hard part is getting past the wiring or something like that, again I wasn't the one doing the swap but that's what I heard. Check eBay, there are people always selling JDM engines, especially SR's.

Anyhow, does anybody know what the stock HP is on a '90 GTU FC? Thanks.

i think the gtu has 160 hp...
if your sr wasnt damaged in the crash, i would buy it from you for $1000 with ecu and everything... private message me, maybe we can work out a price for the whole package, like gauges and exhaust and stuff, so i dont have to get them all from different places...

Thanks for the info on how much HP the GTU has. About the SR, I already promised to a friend of mine , he's doing a Sil-80 conversion of his 240SX so he really needs it.
