question about color to paint car
Ok im getting ready to start preping my car to paint. I am torn about what color to paint it. Right now it is blue. I do want to change the color. I thought about going black. Ive never had a black car. I do love white cars though. My Bimmer is silver so I dont want to paint it silver. My thought behind going White over Black is the fact that I live in Florida and it get hot here, and of coarse our 7's get hot anyway. So I was wondering if painting the car black would make it even hotter? And would painting it white keep it cooler (both motor and interior)? Im sure that sounds kinda crazy but just a thought I had. Thanks

Well as a paint rep for a large paint company I can tell you that a black car can reach 140-145* in the sun, with that said white will tend to be at least 20-30* cooler.
Hope this helps

My $.02...
Back in the late '80's my wife and I had a pair of Mazda 626 GT's. Her's was black and mine was white. They had the same color interior, kind of a gray cloth. Other than the color, the cars were identical, even the window tint was the same. The black car was much hotter after sitting in the Dallas Texas sun. Even though those cars had outstanding A/C for their time, the white car was much quicker to cool down after soaking in the sun. Since those days, I have purchased 4 brand new cars and they have all been white.
I have a black 90 Vert. I would rather have a lighter color, but when I painted I was unwilling to do a complete color change.
Good Luck!
