Question about brake fittings
This covers all generations of RX-7s but since I'm using FC 4-piston breaks I figured this was the most pertinent section to post this in.
I have TII 4-piston calipers on my FB and I've redone the brake tubing because I'm using an FD master (the old lines wouldn't reach). Now I'm trying to figure out how to attach *any* aftermarket SS brake line set to the tubing, and I've come up empty.
The lines are 3/16", but I haven't been able to find a 3/16" -> AN adapter ANYWHERE. I was even considering just redoing the lines for a 2nd time and just doing all SS braided hose, but even then I wouldn't know how to connect the hose to the master.

Can't you just go back to the stock lines/MC...what's so special about the FD unit?

What I need is a way to adapt FC SS brake lines to the hardline.

I can think of three options:
-custom made brake hoses
-convert the MC/hard lines to FC parts
-cut the hard line ends and reflare using the correct fittings.
You definitely do not want to use all braided lines (eliminating the hard lines altogether)- it would be absurdly expensive and there would be too much expansion over such a distance, the brakes would almost certainly feel worse than your stock setup.
Of the three, option #1 is probably the easiest although I would opt for #2 myself (it's hard to beat factory R&D).

Are the FC lines any different? I mean, they also have to connect to the OEM tubing...
Thanks for the response!

I think I'm confused.
Aftermarket SS brake hoses (Mazdatrix, Corksport, etc.) come all ready to screw to the OEM hardlines and calipers (actually, in the case of the 4-piston caliper there is a short hardline from the caliper to the strut and the SS hose mates to it)...you don't need adaptors.

The hardline presents a problem for the front brakes, but maybe I could get around that with a proper banjo bolt...
Maybe I was just overthinking the problem. The only other issue I might have is making a short run from "T" to the MC. I really don't want to flare another section of tubing and I was thinking that SS would look a little bit nicer. Are the SS aftermarket lines -3AN?

Nevermind, I answered my own question by checking Racing Beat's website. Thanks for at least smacking me back into reality -- I don't know why I tend to make things harder than they're worth sometimes. I guess it's because nothing about my project has been easy. Thanks again.
