Question about AC Compressor
Hello guys
My AC system is empty and I am thinking about filling it with R12 replacement. I have noticed that the clutch of the compressor does not work aswell. Is there some sort of a protection built in that if the system is empty the clutch does not engage?
Thanks guys.

Saemi

There's a pressure switch wired in the factory AC system that will prevent the compressor clutch from energizing if there isn't enough refrigerant in the system. It's there to protect the compressor from running dry in the event that much of the refrigerant (and the oil that goes with it) leaks out.
