AC question

Hey everyone.

Quick question. I have the AC blower in the car running well. Compressor is kicking on correctly. There is no refrigerant in the system. I'm going to be removing the system soon so this will most likely be the last summer I have with the system in my rx7.

For ***** and giggles it would be cool to have AC working in my car. I know it takes r12 but would their be any serious issues if I charged it with r134a? I know it won't be AS cold as r12 but I'm not trippin since it's better then no AC at all.

Most likely gunna get a can with "stop leak" so if I do have a leak it'll help seal it (or so I hope)

Any info would be good. Thanks guys

Best if you drain the oil from the compressor and replace with fresh. Also be sure your fan clutch is working well so you are moving as much air through the condenser as possible,

Other than that and R134 nipple kit for loading the refrigerant, that's pretty much it.

Can draining the oil be done at home? Or would I need a machine?

Pull the compressor, turn it upside down and drain like you would a cup of water. Spin it a few times while it's draining.

As I recall you only need a few ounces of oil to replace. There is probably a sticker on the compressor to tell you exactly how much oil it needs. I know there was that information the last Sanden Compressor I swapped out. Otherwise, this should help: http://www.omega-usa.com/client/imag...uide_Rev.2.pdf

This should help. https://www.rx7club.com/2nd-generati...gerant-964688/ I would run this instead of r134a.
