hi, i have a question regarding my bov, well after a long *** time i finally put my TII on the road again (thank god). well i have a turbosmart bov type 1 and to my knowledge it isn't ssq, well the think that is bothering me a little is that when i shift at low rpms, let's say 2800-3200 rpms it mades a sound like a ssq and instead of letting the air escape from the bov is coming out from the front turbine housing, but when i let the rpms go up to 7000 or so it works just fine. could it be the vaccum line from the bov???? i eliminated all my vaccums and im only using the ones that i need. i went microtech.

i cant hear it, but i have a gredy ic kit. It doesnt come with a bov flange, so for a while I was running no bov. It could be turbo surge, if its not your bov opening

 

yeah, compressor surge on our 13bt's is really high pitched. mine runs no bov and i hear it everyday. you're bov might be set too stiff.

 

will it hurt my turbo if it keeps doing this??? i really don't know why it's doing this, when i was on the stock turbo i never heard it. i heard this was bad for the turbo and that it could damage it. ill take a look and see if my bov is too stiff.

Well, lot of earlier cars never came with them, but its better to have a properly working bov. It wears it out a lil faster, but nothing to stop you from driving your car

 

ive ran my tII without a bov for a month now and i ran my 240sx without one for almost a year, took the turbine off, and everything was near perfect. i ran that car at 1 bar daily.
