Question Q's on adjusting camber/ What's in your FC?

Hi all,

I am looking to correct the camber on my car following the installation of lowering springs. I would like to know what budget minded options I have for both front and rear adjustments.

I believe I will go for an inexpensive adjustable camber bar for the rear. The front I am unsure of. New adjustable pillow ball plates are nice, but I can't swing the nearly $200 price tag. Any other suggestions?

Just to clarify; This car is not being used for racing purposes. Just a summer-time-fun mobile.

Let me know what you have used. Any info would be great!

Thanks, Jesse

Front,
Get new standard top mounts - cos they do wear out and swivel them.
This should give about -1.5 camber and -2 caster which is more than enough for road use.

The rear use a RB style adjustable drop link.
This modifies both sides together but changing the relationship between the subframe and suspension carrier.

Its not perfect for really serious use.
I race a 12A RX-7 1981 with -2.25 camber, 5.5 caster at front.
I'd run -2 camber on an FC at back

But NOT on the road.
It just increases wear not only on the tyres but on the suspension and steering.

Having said thsi, I made a complete B0!!0x of my first attempt of using teh standard parts!

Y

well "budget" suspension work would be exactly what you suggested, adjustable camber bar on the rear and camber plates on the front....all to the tune of - give or take - 450-500 bucks? that fairly "budget" in my opinion for someone who wants a street car and feels the need to adjust their camber......

Go back and do a search - there was a thread a while back on using the offset bolts in the front struts to adjust the camber. Not the ideal solution if one is racing, but it should be sufficient for street driving - and a heck of a lot cheaper than camber plates.

Thanks for the info guys. I have seen those camber adjusting bolts, but didn't know how well they worked.

clasicauto- Granted, $450-500 isn't that much, but start adding springs ($220) and shocks/struts ($250-300)..... you see where this is going. I'm not-so-much looking for adjustibility of the camber, but more like "correcting" the camber due to the flattened suspension angles when lowered.

I bought this from mazdatrix for the rear, the front im not worrying about because my setup currently doesnt really need to be adjusted for the camber, not enough camber in the front to make a difference. Im at 1.5" drop

Is it possible to use those eccentric strut bolts with a cam lobe on the bolt shaft?
