Q to anyone that HAS found their A/C leak
Q to anyone that HAS found their A/C leak
Where it leaked out, did you see a grey substance where the leak was? I am guessing that it is the lubrication for the AC system, but I want to be sure that I identified the correct spot for the leak.
I suspect that I am correct, there is a piece of metal tubing that got damaged over time, and if I am right, I will spill the beans about my theory on AC failing in modded FCs that try to keep AC
.

Lemme guess - the AC hard line that runs on the passenger side frame rail was rubbed by the cone intake. Right?
That's one common rub spot. On NA's, the cruise control cable commonly rubs against the hard line on the firewall and rubs a hole there.

My has a busted condensor... i found the leak because the previous owner took it to canadian tire and they did a leak test, and i found the report zip tied to the AC line.
I have a AC condensor... but when i went to change it tout and undid a line... it hissed on me a bit... so i tightened it, and now it is winter and i'll decided what to do come spring

Good guess...i'll make a warning thread tommorow. Next I guess I need to find out if all I need to do is buy a new line (i think it runs from the drier to another line) oil both ends and pressurize the system? Now if that stuff that leaked out is the oil, does R-12 or any equivalent refridgerant contain oil in the mix, or is it something that you add to the system? Thanks!!

Yeah, usually you just have to put the new line on and have the system re-charged - that should do it. The amount of oil that's leaked out is probably nominal. The shop charging the system can add a little oil back in when they shoot it.
