I'm putting my FC away for about 4 years in a big garage/warehouse.
My question is...do i have to do certain maintenance or whatever?

If you don't mind me asking, have you considered just selling it and buying a new one after four years? With a decent investment, you could nearly double your money over that period, not considering the costs of getting it up and running again and storage fees, if you are paying for it. Even properly stored, alot could happen over four years.

Or do you have an attachment to this particular car.

Just curious.

I tried selling it for 4 months...few people responded.
The people that did respond were ignorant and just saw it as a old car and didn't even now what a rotation was...so gave little money.
I didn't even ask that much for it.

But i just replaced the complete exhaust system, new front window, doors and other little things...engine is in great shape etc.
Just a little damage to the body.

I'm back in college and don't need a car atm...so it's just costing me insurance and tax now.
I figgured i could store it for 4 years and when i finish college drive it again.
The storage fee is almost nothing since it's owned by a friend of mine

I will have access to the car so i guess i could start up the car once a week or so.
Would starting and letting the engine run for a few min be enough or should i drive around the warehouse?

 

Short trips is NOT recommended ! ! ! Unless you are going to drive it for 30+ highway minutes, don't even bother starting it! Starting it up and letting it warm up and then shutting it down, is not recommended either! You would really be best off storing it with the fogging oil and draining the gas tank, and continue to try to find a buyer.

Search for winter storage - there are a lot of threads regarding storing a car for extended periods of time. 4 years is a bit longer than winter storage, but the same things apply.

You can either do everything you need to do for safe long-term storage (pickle the engine with fogging oil, block off all intake/exhaust ports, put it up on stands, etc), or you can drive it once a month or so and get it hot enough to boil off condensation (half an hour of highway should do it).

Idling the engine is one of the worst things you can do. It allows combustion blowby, that turns into acid, and the heat cycling creates condensation. But, it never gets the engine hot enough to actually boil this stuff out.

Not starting up my car for 4 years scares me...too much fear of it not starting up again...

 

I don't mean to hijack this thread, but I figured my question is similar, and I could just ask here.

My car has sat all summer, so I was wondering if there are any good products to put in when I get it back and change the oil (i.e. I took my other car to jiffy lube and they put some stuff in it that supposedly cleaned out al the gunk n stuff in the engine from bad oil. Is there anything similar to that for rotaries/is this same stuff rotary safe?) Also, I did not have the luxuary of being able to keep the car from being started and turend off every once in a while. It was at my uncles shop so it needed to be moved every so often. So if I just drive the car for a half hour now will that get that acid and condensation out? My main concern is the fact that it flooded a few times (due to them not letting it warm up before killing the engine) which means it was being started with some really dirty oil. Ill def be driving it with 93 octane and fuel injector cleaner as soon as it gets back (and of course changing the oil along with all other fluids) is there anything else I sould do?

 

I store my car over the wintertime here and even after like 6 month sitting(not starting it), it fires right up after the 2nd crank!! The guy who I bought it from down in Georgia state, had it sitting in storage for 3 years before I bought it. After like 5-10 minutes it started right up!! smoked alittle bit but what do you expect!! running fine now with NO long term problems yet and Ive had it since 2002
