Cool Putting in a LSD.

I want to buy a LSD from another N/A and put it in my convertible. Should it just bolt right in? Shoudl there be any problems that anyone can think of? Is it worth the trouble? Can I do it on my own, being a reasonably competent mechanic. I have the Haynes manual, and have worked on cars for about 8 years now. Thanks again.

The easyest way is to swop the hole diff that way you don't have to take anything apart. but beware you might need a new diff mount in the front of the diff this is a problem with rx7 fc's

Why would I need a new mount? Also, what do you mean the whole diff?? Can you explain a little more, I'd appreciate it!! Thanks.

I think he means grab the entire differential case instead of just getting the differential out of it and swapping it into your current case. Unless you really know what you're doing, ring and pinion gears are not fun to play with - they're very easy to screw up.

Cool

Oh, hell yeah. I am getting the whole thing, case and all. I wouldn't try to play with the gears themselves.

ok now that we cleared that up, taking out the diff puts alot of stress on the mount and it is very likly to break if you have more than 50K miles on it and if it is oem it is almost a sertanty. so it would be a good idea to replace it now or you might have your car down after trying and finding out it did break and then waiting for it to come in... Trust me I have blown 3 of them this year.
