Puting a Turbo2 in a NonT 2nd gen
Me and my friend are buying my other freinds 1987 NA RX-7 for $800, he's geting a 97 TSI Talon and needs the money. Anyways, I am going to get a Turbo 2 engine out of a 2nd gen for $300, the engine has all the parts but not 100% sure if its working, I hear T2's have problems. I have a cupple of questions so here it goes: Will the engine go in no prob? will I need a T2 hood for the intercooler? Will the engine mate up the the cars 5spd trany? Will I have to change the dif or any other driveline components? any tips on puting the engine in are much apreciated because I am doing it by myself and with the help of my friends.

There is a web site that walks you through doing this, but can't remember the URL. Can someone help here?
I think you really need the TII tranny also to do it right. Really not difficult to retrofit, just tedious.
NA trannies are cronic syncro eaters. Extra pop of a TII makes this situation even worst.

Lemme just tell you straight up. It'll almost be more cost effective to buy a TII than it is to put a TII engine into an NA car. Not only do you have to change out many electrical *cpu and such, but the whole tranny has to go since the turbo has a different transmission ratio and all that good stuff. In any case, my synchro's in my NA are almost shot, 141K on them. Well, good luck if you plan on doing the 'surgery', but IMHO it's better off to just buy a TII.

i did that swap to my friends NA Automatic at that. This is your minimum list with options you can get later:
MINIMUM;
Engine, tranny, computer,gauge cluster, BOTH harnesses, turbo drive shaft, all sensors( all the ones under the hood) plus all the sensors on the inside passenger kick panel, t2 hood unless you go front mount ic, exhaust.
DO IT RIGHT;
All the above PLUS;
complete rear end with brake assembly(unbolts complete), front a arms with all brake stuff attached, brake booster, thats it.
All of this was bought from a front end collision car(perfect light pole indent) for $900 complete. If you do the minimum this will get you going fine. it took about 1/2 day to pull this stuff out and about 2 days to get it in and running.
PS: on an automatic you'll have to modify the tranny mount.
