Put Soap in Tranny?

I saw in an earlier post that someone recommended putting Dawn dish soap in a manual tranny to clean the syncros. When asked if he was serious, he stated "Absolutely". What gives? Wouldn't this seriously mess up your car?

No, you must have a professonial do this. Dawn works, or palmolive, personally I prefer letting the tranny soak overnight like an ATF treatment. This will solve alot of grinding issues. Once the tranny has been drained of the dish soap you can then concur that you must fill it with manual tranny fulid. After this is done. All oils will be replenished in the tranny and it will shift like new.

If you do something like this I suggest using something less viscous. I know of a product a group called Enviro-tech sells that is thinner and cutts grease better than dawn. Easier to rinse out of the tranny. Sounds interesting, but I think I will wait until I could afford a new tranny if it does not work.

I heard that flushign the tranny and filling it with water and Plecostomus fish helps clean the gears..

Those fish really dig that stuff...

Or was it fill the tranny with peanut butter and olive oil?

I cant remember.

before you try puting dish soap in your tranny just change out the oil and put some high quality stuff in there like redline. i noticed a big difference in mine before i chaged out the fluid i HAD to double clutch 2nd gear or it would grind but now its just as easy as the other gears which got easier to shift after the fluid change BTW
