Unhappy put in a new motor and now the car won't start

ok guys here's my problem i just put a new motor in my car and everything seemed to go OK. But when i went to start it the car started and then about 2 seconds later it turned off. So i checked all my connections and made sure they were all tight and tested all relays and wiring that has to do with fuel. When the car does turn on it revs to like 2500RPMs and turns back off right when it hits about 2500. the car is a 87 T2. thanks

sounds like a vacuum leak. make sure turbo inlet duct is on all the way. then make sure you didn't leave off any vacuum hoses.....

actually it sounds like you dont have the intake tube or the maf connected, ususally a vacuum leak will try to rev higher before cutting off.

i second checking the manifold. same thing happened to me on my 91 n/a, but the engine also made a funny whine when it was briefly running. i had a bracket sandwiched in with the intake gasket instead of having the braket sit on top of the manifold.
