Excactly, the time and money of grinding, blending and trying to repaint. The whole back half of the car would have to be re-clear coated, if you dont want it to look like crap in a few years from where the old clear and new clear meet.

HAHA I actually have towed it home with the jeep, I blew a wheel bearing out in pittsburg, tore up the hub, so I had to get a car dolly, and we towed it. Did quite well, even went up some killer hills!

I would lose the rivets... The amount of bondo added up would likely weigh about the same as the rivets, and if you apply it right it won't crack away... Your car though!

nice, I'm sure it will turn out awesome. I just hope you have the engine to match the looks of your car.

You'll definitly notice the rivets if no bondo is put on it.

Remember its not painted yet.
cool. I'm running a 17x9, +17 with a 235.... trying to figure out how a 20mm fender would work back there... might have to do a little spacer as well to fill it up properly.

Honestly, the rivets serve a purpose... they make all the body panels easy to remove in the case of any body damage from "racing"... any kid on here that thinks that aesthetics are more important than function, is probably a fan boy or is otherwise ignorant to this.

So in other words... the build looks good... you can leave the molded panel/body kits to the recently converted FNF Honduh crowd...

w3rd.

Haha you're a real funny guy... I wasn't knocking him at all... In fact, I merely stated that if the work is done right then it won't fail... For the record I think anything moulded in looks absolutely rediculous EXCEPT fender extensions... I like riveted flares, but an entire rear 1/4 section riveted in just looks like you're covering up body damage... Thanks for your useless input though...

Riviting flares on built to be rivited loks race and good. Riviting entire quortes on built to be molded looks gayness.

how is his input more useless than yours?

and fyi, he may not have been directing that comment at you, as a LOT of the people that posted in this thread said he should mold them on instead of the rivets. so no need to get all upset about it.

but for all the rivet haters...

The pink one is the only acceptable one because its a race style kit.

You can see the rivets on those cars, but it looks badass cause they are actually functional.

I think the point was to show off the awesome rivets on those cars and show off the molded kits on those retarded looking 240's.

Knock yourself out, the body panels are fuctional I needed them to fit my rear wheels, the 10's stuck out about a inch. As davedge said (FYI his Fc rocks and he knows how to actually drive it), easier to replace, I will most likely hit something during racing events in the following year. And I can also run a larger tire/wheel if needed for future events. So rivets as you see from all those pics are used ALOT. They however had there panels painted before hand.

The bodywork on those 240's was garbage anyways... And all of the FC's were obviously intended to be competing drift cars (except with nice paint lol)... The rivets look good when you know they have a true purpose... If this is your track car then I think it looks awesome, because function is obviously > form... For a primarily street driven car I would say the rivets were tacky... But then again I think most bodykits are tacky so what the hell...

Any one know where to get that red hatch on red FC??? thats badass, especially in the event my glass goes kaputt.

Rivits are all good. i saw a supra with rivits all over his fenders at a race shop down in tampa, all i could do was drool. Rvits are fine... i think tho IMO... your rivits are a bit busy in comparison.

edit:

Forgot that you'll be painting over them... should look fine.

Hmm the rivets in the pictures of the show cars, are riveted on after the panel was painted...

Doesn't do a thing for me, but then I generally think flares look ricer gay on street FCs anyway.

i agree, to me it only serves a purpose on a track car, they look decent but i never really liked how the body lines are totally screwy where it meets the bumper afterwards.
