punch me now (lock question)

Hey,
Well when i got my car, the driver door lock wasnt working, so I decided to investigate and see if i could fix the problem. Anywho, i take off the door panel and get to the guts of the problem. well..... I found what i believe to be the problem. The rod going from the lock on the inside was not connected to the lock. So i fixed the little plastic piece and i assumed all was well. I could lock and unlock from outside inside (note...i did not close the door while doing this yet). well i put the panel back on and closed the door.......i try to unlock it and no go. I try from the outisde.........no unlocking. So i decide to try and take the panel off from the inside and am fairly successful. I can get to the lock "internals", but just cant find the problem. It seems as though it has something to do with the actual lock, but i could be wrong. And meanwhile doing this, i managed to break the handle on the inside......ahhhh i need some new locks (and BTW, it is NOT power locks)

Andrew
(thanks for all the help)
