pulsing idle again
hey everyone, i've searched about the pulsing idle and learned alot. One thing i have to ask, to see if i got my info correct.
First thing was that I had a high idle. at 1500 or so, when i took off the BAC to clean with intake cleaner, the idle dropped, however i used RTV to make the gasket (maybe i made it really badly) now my idle is pulsing between 900-1300+
Can this be caused by a bad gasket there?
one more thing is, when you guys are adjusting the BAC, did u guys use a "handheld" Tach like in the FMS, or did u guys just turn the ****?
So i guess right now I have to
1. Adjust the TPS
2. redo the BAC gasket
3. Adjust the BAC
Any other ideas? =)

Its also possible that the BAC needs a rebuild. There are proceedures for this. There's even a procedure for eliminating the BAC as the cause of an erratic idle. So If the BAC has a bad seal, then yes, of course it will have an affect on your idle.

the only way that I have ever had a pulsing idle is becuase of one thing, the TPS.
Pulsing idles, ESPECIALLY idles that are exact, as in
1000-1300 rpm every time, never lower, never higher
Idles that are out of an exact range, could also be the TPS + a vac leak.
I made a little test for myself when I had a pulsing idle to see if it was my tps. You can tell if you hold in the tps all the way with your finger, observe the idle. If its still fluctuating, then its a vac leak most likely.
If its steady, pull the linkage down wich in turn revs the engine. Hold it at a good high rpm like 3000 or so, and observe it. Keep in mind, your still holding in the TPS. If the fluctation is still there, then its something else, if its not, then your tps probably has dead spots, or who else knows.
Adjusting the tps I found with the above results from my car, was completley useless. A bad tps is a bad tps, all it does is sense what position the throttle linkage is in, and if you adjust it, its still gonna measure that position falsly.
