I used a 52mm socket and an impact tool. Then I took a piece of wood that was large enough to cover an area (as far left, or as far right as possible) on the flywheel and hit it as hard as i could. Loosened that beyotch right up

Sometimes you get lucky. I pulled mine a few months back and it was biggest pain in the butt I've ever had to deal with. The 52mm bolt that held it on had about a whole bottle of loc-tite on there. I heated it with a torch and everything, and I still bent 2 breaker bars trying to get it off.

This is just a worst case scenaro, so hopefully yours will not be so tough.

If you have Auto-Zone stores near you, they carry the bar type gear puller that you will see used in the Mazda service manual, for under $15. I used the puller and tapped a wedge under the flywheel (rotating it each time), until it popped off. Leave the 52mm bolt loosly on there, or be ready to catch the flywheel when it goes, mine flew when popped loose.

Have Fun.

loosen the flywheel nut.. then go to murrays or something and get a puller set (should be about $80).. RENT it from them (pay the $80, use it, return it, that's what they have it for). Put lots of pressure on it, take a piece of steel disc or something to keep the puller from damaging the flywheel nut (oh yeah, DON'T pull the flywheel nut completely off after you've got it loosened) and use the slide hammer to keep breaking it loose slightly, put more pressure on it, more pressure, more pressure, etc.. and eventually it'll pop off.

I would not recomend using a "puller" these thing are realy on there and about 75% of the time you will braek the puller. It is raely a lot easier than what people make it. Once you get the nut off all you have to do is take a large sledge hammer and give it one good blow and the fly wheel will fall right off. Dont sit there and keep hitting it but if you give it one good one it will come right off and you wont damage it at all. You might try puting a piece of wood up there to soften the impact, but then it usualy wont come off with that. Or mabe put a little duck tape on right where your going to hit it. any ways that what realy works well. I have do it all the time.

I've pulled 4 flywheels (2 S5 TurboII motors and 2 12A motors) and never broke the puller.

Why would you hit your friggin' flywheel with a sledgehammer and risk bending/cracking/whatever it? Just RENT the puller, it's worked FOUR times for me.

I used a puller, but it was a pita. I ended up using a crow bar to lightly push up from under neath the flywheel, being careful not to damage the end housing, and this popped it right off.

HHMMM some of us dont have an hour to hook up a puller and sit there and do a 1/4 turn every 5 minutes thats why. And ya i cant remember the last time i bent a 3 inch thick cast piece of steel. One good bump and they fall right off.
