pulled tranny, where are the bushings?

Hey guys, just pulled out my tranny without much hassle, but looking in the tailshaft part where the shifter ball goes in... there are no bushings at all!! I know about the upper and lower bushings, blue and white, but where the heck to they go? Also, I can't believe there isn't some kind of bushing around the shifter ball where it goes into that block looking piece... is there? If anyone had pics, or knew a website w/ pics it would be helpful... thanks!!

oh, this is an 86 na

sometimes the bushings decintigrate inside the shifter housing. Once put the shifter bushings in youll notice a world of difference.

Dude the stuff in the tail shaft where the shifter ball goes, it looked like old chunky pudding. You pulled so many little pieces of metal out. no wonder it didn't shift right. Let me know when you are puting it all back together. I'll make a cake, or maybe pudding, hahaha. laters.

Nope, no bushings go there. BUT, there is a spring arm that should sit just above the hole that fims it in place.

Sounds like you had upper bushing in both upper and lower positions. When you replace, make sure the lower one is replaced with one of thw white nylon kind. The upper bushing is the dark grey soft variety with a spring washer on top.

Bushings should look like the one's shown in the picture for this e-bay auction:
