Proper way to clean an old turbo

I'll be boosting my NA in the future, and would like to know how to clean a turbo from a turbo2 that has been sitting for years. What steps should I take to make sure this is a clean, and healthy turbo? Any help and guidelines would be greatly appreciated.

best way to clean it is mark the clock positions and remove the hot and cold side housings from the center cartridge and have the housings sandblasted and thoroughly cleaned. clean the center section with compressed air and carb cleaner - reassemble - done - a turbo that looks spankin new again.
