Proper transmission fluid?
I meant to ask this a few weeks ago, but is it true you shouldn't use transmission fluid that smells of sulfur in FC transmissions (although I suppose the rear diff doesn't matter as much?)?
Since the basic Valvoline fluid smells a bit like it... or at least it smells stronger than normal oil.
I have it in my transmission and don't really notice a difference.
Also, it is normal for the transmission (even the shifter) to get fairly warm after a fairly short period, right?
Or should the only heat in the transmission come from the engine, slowly absorbed through the bell housing?

Jesus is the Messiah
Shifter getting warm is totally normal.
Only use the proper GL (I forgot if it was 4 or 5 offhand) approved transmission oil in your transmission, sulpher is MEAN to your poor brass sychros. Makes them not last anywhere near as long, you wont notice a difference though.

It tends to get warm within maybe 30 minutes though... meh, I didn't think it was an issue.
The crackling sound that comes from my engine during high loads is a bit more worrisome...
