Proper storage

I have a few parts left over from a recent rebuild. A few engine internals like rotors. I'd like to use them later on when I have money for another build but for now I'm just going to store them. Is there any proper way to pack them up for storage? Or can I just tuck them away in a bag or something? Lol!

Coat them in oil and pack them up safely in padding so they won't get damaged.

Does this also account for irons? Or is there another way?

Basically for all the rustable engine parts. Petroleum jelly also works well and doesn't drip off.
