Project smokes untill T-stat open. How to fix?

I got this car as a blank shell...literally. Now it is a fully equipped car that has clocked about 260 miles in the past couple months. I've tuned it better recently and it seems to be a reliable car that drives pretty well.

Only problem is that it smokes pretty heavily until the thermostat opens up. I'm assuming it is gasoline/premix smoke. The car is premixed with no OMP by the way. Suggestions on how to fix this problem?

One thing is that the primary injectors had a mesh piece in them that looked damaged and was hanging out so I removed it. Could that be part of it? Just wondering what would cause it to smoke until warm.

Could it be bad seals? Could it be a tuning issue? Or is this just what happens when you run full premix? I put about 10 ounces of 2 stroke per tank. 6 oz per fill up basically. Could I just be using poor quality premixes?

I fill up at a bit over 1/4 tank and put 6-8 ounces in. BEFORE I put the gas in to mix it up.

i dont know too many reasons why it would be doing this, im sure someone else will..

but just an F.Y.I. i think the general consensus is to put 1 oz premix per 1 gallon fuel.

My car smokes until it warms up. It's got about 6k on the motor, has no thermal pellet thingie and an FD oil pressure regulator. Stock s4 OMP. Oil pressure seems to be pretty high on cold start. Once it warms up the oil pressure drops to normal levels and it doesn't smoke. I'm not particularly bothered by it, it never floods, pulls 15" of vacuum with a big streetport, and made 386rwhp. I sure as hell am not pulling the motor and getting it looked at.

Not sure about the premix issues, but the "mesh thingy" on the injector is referred to (correct me if I'm wrong) as the air bleed or injector diffusers. I believe they are supposed to help with fuel atomization. I hope someone can clarify of their importance (or lack of).

If I had spare injectors I'd swap them, but the mesh was ripped up and hanging out so I'm sure it's for the best that I pulled it out. Some days it smokes more than others. Doesn't bother me. Only the people behind me for the first 2 miles, lol.

I do 6-8 ounces of 2-stroke oil per fill up. i fill up at 1/4-1/2 tank. I guess next time I'll have a good brand of oil ready and put 10-12 ounces in. That could be the problem. I'm not running it hard though. I keep it under 3000RPM. Has a slipping clutch anyway so I don't try to race it around. I've just been driving it to work and back on the interstate at a steady 3000RPM.

i think youre running the wrong premix... as most 2-stroke motorcycles premix isn't "smokeless" (although some brands, like PJ1 and Elf-do offer smokeless premix).

most 2-stroke motorcycle premix is rated API-TC

while most premix for outboard engines is rated TCW-3 (what most everyone on the board here recommends) -- cheap at walmart in the supertech jugs with the Aqua colored labels. it will say TCW-3 somewhere on it.

I've never had a problem with premixing 6-12 oz. per tankful, 2-cycle or MMO or Idemitsu.

Maybe it's a cooling system problem? Maybe when the thermostat opens up it unbalances something in the cooling system. You might check the tstat to be sure it's OEM, i.e., with the jiggle stick etc. Also, check temps all over with a infra-red remote temp sensor.

Maybe check the codes from the ECU. I installed a $3 buzzer from radio shack on the readout pins of the ECU on my SE so I could get the news every time I start the engine. Very interesting. Also facilitates various under-hood tests, per the FSM.

My assumption is it's the quality of 2 stroke oil I'm using. I'm going to head to a motor cycle shop and ask for a recommendation on a less smokey oil.
